One Unreal Afternoon : October 23rd, 2007 Today was one of the most memorable days I have ever spent outdoors. It started off with just a trip to the lake. I was hoping to get some good pictures and catch a few fish. It started off w/ a kingfisher, then ducks, geese, eagles, harriers, hawks, coyotes, river otters, and more. It was totally surreal. The highlight of my day was watching a peregrine falcon take a coot out of the air not once, but twice. Both times he was robbed of his meal by a larger predator on the food chain. The biggest red talied hawk I have ever seen stole the first one. The second time the poor peregrine was chased off by a golden eagle. Believe it or not, the golden eagle was actually pushed off the coot by a coyote. The coyote was less than 50' from me and totally unconcerned. Once he finally left, I looked off in the distance to see 3 more coyotes. One was eating a dead canada goose, the other was just trotting on the shorline, and the last was rolling in the mud like a labrador. It was an insane day...
